The Spring of 2010 was a very busy time for our organization! On May 5th, 2010 BC Rehab recognized individuals who have gone through the physical rehabilitation process with the annual Gert Vorsteher Memorial Award. The recipients of the award demonstrate incredible determination in reaching and exceeding their rehabilitation goals and, in turn, increasing their own form of independence.

BC Rehab actively supports research initiatives which increase the knowledge of disability issue. Each year BC Rehab hosts the William Fraser Awards to offer rehabilitation professionals the opportunity to undertake clinical reseach in their field of interest or expertise. On Wednesday, June 23rd BC Rehab was able to award three research groups with $15,000 grants.
"One of the ways that BC Rehab supports people with disabilities is by sponsoring research and educational programs aimed at improving clinical care at GF Strong and other rehabilitation facilities. The William Fraser Awards, now in its 9th year, are an important part of this support,” said Ian Muirhead, Vice-Chairman of the BC Rehab Board. “These awards provide staff members at GF Strong with $15,000 to investigate and research ideas that might otherwise not receive funding, and we are proud to play a small role in expanding the techniques and knowledge that can improve the life of anyone living with a disability."
