At BC Rehab we know our donors and supporters are the lifeline of our organization and your support enables us to continue the vital services and funding we provide to people with disabilities who are in need. BC Rehab is especially thankful to those who have considered BC Rehab in a planned giving capacity. The year 2012 saw the birth of new grant partnerships with Rick Hansen Foundation and The Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Woodward’s Foundation; it is an honour to steward these grants and use them to make a difference in the lives of many.
The Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Woodward’s Foundation
BC Rehab would like to offer a special thank you to the Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Woodward’s Foundation. The Woodward’s Foundation, which operates out of Vancouver, notified BC Rehab in early May that we would be receiving a $40,800 grant. In January 2012, BC Rehab applied for a Woodward’s funding grant in support of the BC Rehab Individual Grant Program.
The Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Woodward’s Foundation was established in 1953 with the focus of supporting projects which would contribute to better health care for British Columbians. Since its conception in the 1950’s, the Woodward’s Foundation has used its resources to fund hundreds of vital projects across our province.
As most of our readers know, the BC Rehab Individual Grant Program provides valuable medical and mobility equipment to individuals in need who have a physical disability. The volume of applications we receive for each allocation round far exceeds the number of applicants we are able to fund; because of this grant we will be able to assist more people who have come to BC Rehab for help. The funding from the Woodward’s Foundation is a significant boost to our Individual Grant Program and will provide a direct, health-related service to British Columbians with a disability. All of us at BC Rehab are appreciative of the Woodward’s Foundation staff and Board of Directors who took the time to consider our grant application and for offering their support to our programming.
Thank you to the Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Woodward’s Foundation!

Rick Hansen Institute
BC Rehab has recently become the recipient of a $22,090 grant from the Rick Hansen Institute. The grant comes from the Rick Hansen Quality of Life (QOL) funding program, which was designed to address the challenges that arise from living with a spinal cord injury, and meet priority needs not met by regular Provincial Health Care.
Bill Barrable, CEO of Rick Hansen Institute, stated :
“To mark the 25th Anniversary of Rick’s Man In Motion World Tour, we are delighted to be able to provide this grant to the BC Rehab Foundation, to assist BC residents with their rehab needs”.
BC Rehab is appreciative of this grant which will be used to support clients who come to us through the Individual Grant Program. BC Rehab funding programs directly address quality of life concerns and provide mobility aids to individuals in need who would otherwise be unable to obtain such equipment. The BC Rehab Individual Grant Program distributes funding for a range of mobility equipment which positively contributes to the applicants’ personal independence, physical rehabilitation and ability to access their community.
